Since 2015 we have always focused on olive wood products for international handicrafts export. With good reason, the olive wood creations from Tunisia are unique in their kind. The wood is ecological, antibacterial, honey-like in color and perfect for use in the kitchen and elsewhere in the home. In addition to the typical utilitarian olive wood creations such as cutting boards or kitchen utensils, we have also put forward olive wood chess sets since 2015. The olive wood turned out to be the perfect match for the game. At the time an olive wood chess board was unique, with rustic shapes and the beautiful engrainment of the wood. Creating the chess board out of olive wood meant that the world-famous chess board turned into a coveted high-end decor item ànd game board.

Chess Table
This unique chess table is completely made out of dense olive wood in the Tunisian city of Sfax. The top of the table has a hand painted chess board design with a rustic finish typical for olive trees. The support is a beautiful spiraling piece of olive wood. It has four table legs, making it sturdy enough to play on. Under the table you’ll find a skillfully crafted drawer where you can store chess pieces. You can choose to opt for the inclusion of a matching set of handcrafted chess pieces.

At 42*42 centimeters in dimension, this is one of our larger chess boards. It has a hand carved scalloped edge making it a classic and timeless design. My personal favorite addition to Qartaj’s catalog is this cute olive wood box, carved completely from olive wood. 3 edges of the lid are partially scalloped. The box can be used to play four different games being:
