The pottery is made from clay found there and naturally dyed. Sejnane pottery has a quality and a decorative style that distinguishes it from other regions of Tunisia pottery. Sajnen pottery is very minimalistic, with strong African overtones.
The pottery of Sejnene is ancestral and is transmitted from mother to daughter. Executed exclusively by rural women, and entirely handmade, Sejnene pottery is made from natural products (clay and herbal dyes).
The red brick and black colors that characterize the Sejnene pottery are obtained from red clay (moghra) and extracted from the lentisk (dherou) leaves.
The cooking is done in a traditional way based on waste wood, straw and dung of cows.
